Summary: GigGain is designed with your privacy as a top priority. All your financial data is stored locally on your device. We do not collect, store, or have access to your personal financial information. No account or login is required.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how GigGain ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the GigGain mobile application (the "App"). GigGain is a financial tracking tool built for musicians to manage gig income, expenses, and mileage. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2a. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
GigGain is an offline-first application. The following information is collected and stored locally on your device only using an on-device SQLite database:
- Income entries (date, amount, client, payment method, status, notes, duration)
- Expense entries (date, amount, category, vendor, notes)
- Client information (name, type, default rates, favorite status)
- Mileage tracking data (distance, purpose, IRS rate, date)
- Recurring entry schedules
- Income goals
- Entry templates
- Invoice records
- Photos attached to entries (stored in device storage)
- App preferences and settings (theme, notification preferences, mileage rate)
- Musician profile data (years of experience, gig types, rate information)
- Rate history snapshots for analytics
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export, back up, or share it using the App's built-in features.
2b. Data We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, transmit, or store:
- Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers
- Your location or GPS data
- Usage analytics or behavioral tracking data
- Crash reports or diagnostic telemetry
- Advertising identifiers
- Contacts, call logs, or browsing history
3. Device Permissions
3a. Camera and Photo Library
GigGain may request access to your device camera and photo library to allow you to:
- Take photos of receipts for expense tracking
- Attach images to income or expense entries
Photos are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to any server. You can deny this permission and still use all other features of the App.
3b. Notifications
GigGain may request permission to send local push notifications for:
- Overdue payment reminders
- Recurring gig reminders
All notifications are generated and scheduled locally on your device. No notification data is sent to or processed by external servers. You can enable or disable each notification type individually in the App's settings.
4. Data Storage and Security
All your data is stored locally using SQLite on your device. We do not:
- Upload your data to cloud servers
- Require user accounts or logins
- Sync your data across devices
- Share your data with third parties
- Have any mechanism to access or retrieve your data
Your data is protected by your device's built-in security features (screen lock, encryption). We recommend keeping your device software up to date and using a screen lock to protect your financial data.
5. Backup, Export, and Sharing
GigGain provides features that allow you to move data off your device at your discretion:
- Backup files: You can create local backup files in .giggain format, which include all your data and photos. These files are saved to a location you choose on your device.
- CSV export: You can export income, expense, or mileage data to CSV format for use in spreadsheets or tax preparation.
- Share cards: You can generate and share summary statistics or chart images. These images contain only the aggregate data visible in the preview before sharing.
- PDF invoices: You can generate invoices from income entries and share them with clients.
When you use these features, you are in full control of where the exported data goes. We have no access to your exported files.
6. Subscription Services
GigGain offers an optional subscription (GigGain Pro) through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Key points about subscription data:
- Subscription management, billing, and payment processing are handled entirely by Apple and Google respectively
- We do not have access to your payment information (credit card number, billing address, etc.)
- We use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service, to verify your subscription status. RevenueCat receives only your anonymous app user ID and subscription status from the app stores. For more information, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy
- Gift code redemptions are validated through our server using only an anonymous device identifier. No personal information is collected during this process
7. Third-Party Services
GigGain uses the following third-party services:
- RevenueCat: For subscription status verification. Receives anonymous app user ID and subscription status only. Privacy Policy
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store: For app distribution and subscription billing. Subject to Apple's and Google's respective privacy policies
GigGain does not include any advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, social media SDKs, or other third-party data collection tools.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
Since all your data is stored locally on your device:
- Retention: Your data remains on your device for as long as the App is installed
- Deletion: You can delete individual entries at any time within the App. Uninstalling the App will permanently delete all locally stored data
- Backup files: Any backup files you have exported will remain wherever you saved them and must be deleted separately
We do not retain any of your data on our servers because we never receive it in the first place.
9. Children's Privacy
GigGain is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the App, please note that all data is stored locally on the device and can be removed by uninstalling the App.
10. Your Rights
Because GigGain stores all data locally on your device and we do not collect personal information, traditional data rights requests (access, correction, deletion, portability) are handled directly by you through the App:
- Access: All your data is visible within the App at all times
- Correction: You can edit any entry directly in the App
- Deletion: You can delete entries individually or uninstall the App to remove all data
- Portability: You can export your data using the backup or CSV export features
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
